Adding a fabric lining to a knit or crochet project...

Attaching fabric to your knits seems easy enough, right? Just cut the fabric to fit the knitting, then sew it on with a few running stitches. Ah, but like most techniques, it’s a little more complicated than that.

Find out just a few of the best ways to attach fabric to knits by reading Ashley Little's blog, The Best Ways to Attach Fabric to Knits.

Another crochet top to add to my Summer wardrobe....

I have been busy crocheting to add a couple of new tops for this summer.

This top was crocheted from side to side and took about ten (10) days to complete. I used Bernat Softee Baby Yarn in mint; I just love how soft the yarn feels and it is the perfect summer weight. The finished pattern fit exactly as expected; however, I did decide to make mine a little longer using the notes that were included in the pattern.

Lazy Daisy Top

The flowers around the neckline are added after you finish the top and can be left off if you are not into the frilly stuff!

The pattern is one of many in the Crochet! Spring 2015 which is available as a pdf download that can be purchased on Annie's website.

Just wanted to share...

I recently purchased a crochet tunic pattern from Annie's to add to my summer wardrobe. I fell in love with the red, white and blue theme and I could just imagine how it would look with a pair of white slacks and sandals.

It took me about two weeks of crocheting each night to complete the tunic. I used a different yarn than the pattern called for, but I stayed with the red, white and blue.

Here is a picture of my finished project:

The pattern is called "Dress Up Tunic" by Mona Modica and is listed as intermediate; I wouldn't recommend it to a beginning crocheter, but an experienced crocheter should have no problem.

You can view the pattern details by using my affiliate link for the Dress Up Tunic.

Counted Cross-stitch...

One of my hobbies is doing counted cross-stitch. I just finished a picture of my grandson using computer software to create a counted cross-stitch chart using his 2013 school picture. My design uses 75 different colors of embroidery floss; over 58,000 stitches and 18-count aida. It took me over a year of off and on embroidering to complete.

I'm always on the look out for new cross-stitch designs. Recently, I found one on my affiliate site, Leisure Arts, that not only satisfied my need for a simpler project; but also was certainly a noteworthy saying.
Confuse Them Cross Stitch ePattern $3.99

An added bonus; it's an e-pattern which is instantly available after you pay. If you are looking for a quick cross-stitch pattern, this one just might be the one!

Embroidered baby gifts...

or just cute little remembrance pillows to mark "special dates" in your child's life. As each pillow is finished, store or display them in a basket or small trunk.

Inspired Ideas for Embroidered Baby Gifts, recently posted on the Craftsy blog by Marna Lunt, gives instructions on how to make a birth announcement hanging heart for the baby's room. Marna says when her babies were small, she would drop nice calming scents like lavender on them to help the babies sleep as well as keep the diaper smell at bay. Marna's blog also contains other ideas for creating these little pillows.

Inspired Ideas for Embroidered Baby Gifts

To make the baby gift, start by choosing a shape, add embroidery to mark the birth of the baby and finish by adding ribbon, buttons or charms.

Marna even provides a FREE pdf instruction sheet to the bottom of her blog that can be downloaded to your computer.
